Blogging Second Life Update – September 2017

Dear readers,

It is with great sadness that I (Evelyn Hartshon) have decided that Blogging Second Life/ The Stores & Creators List will no longer be accepting applications for the foreseeable future.

For the past few months there has only been one active member of the team and the work load has become too much for her. Like with the rest of us, real life has taken over and there is no longer any spare time for Second Life.

The website will remain live and accessible, however it will not be updated after the current pending applications are processed. The Stores & Creators List Group will also remain open and I will assign moderators to keep an eye on the group.

Thank you for being such loyal readers and followers over the past (nearly) 8 years! Also thank you to all the people that have helped with keeping Blogging Second Life up to date – Cajsa, Canary, Kilolo, IndigoSkye, Sash and Satori. (I’m sure there are more of you- sorry if I missed you!)

Regards,

Evelyn Hartshon

Merchants: A chance to get out in front of new Second Life residents

MadPea’s first free-to-play game, The Ghost Town, launches on the 19th December at the Firestorm Gateway. MadPea seeks 20 merchants to provide themed prizes for the players. MadPea and Firestorm will promote participating vendors to their customers of the future before anyone else.

MadPea seeks prizes that enhance a new user’s Second Life experience. They’d prefer wearable items such as

  • clothing
  • skins
  • mesh body parts
  • hair
  • avatar accessories
  • pets
  • wearable vehicles
  • companions
  • and AOs

If you’d like to support this effort, please complete this form and answer every question.

The deadline for applications is December 12th. MadPea will select the vendors they feel are a perfect collaboration for this adventure and contact them.

Some background

A few weeks ago, MadPea Games and Firestorm announced a partnership with regards to the Firestorm Community Gateway. We asked MadPea to provide some experience-led games for users to show them the possibilities of Second Life.

New residents, who stay and play, in our virtual world are essential to the continued success of our grid. Linden Lab continues to work to attract new residents. Soon, Firestorm will do the same. Residents can do their part to ensure that new users engage in the rich, user created content that is on offer.

We hope that by playing MadPea games, new residents will learn skills that will help them over the steep SL learning curve. They’ll also have some fun collecting prizes.
